Minnet, rekonstruktion och teatern

Dramatiska Institutet i samarbete med Studion för Upplevelse och Förståelse vid Interactive Institute inbjuder dig härmed till ett seminarium måndagen den 23 april kl 10.00-12.00 om "minnet, rekonstruktion och teatern" på Dramatiska Institutet, nya bion. Föreläsare prof Richard Beacham, University of Warwick, England och ledare för EU-projektet Theatron, med assistent Drew Baker. Introduktion Peter Becker. Seminariet genomförs på engelska.

Behöver både konstnärer och teatervetaren nya verktyg för att utbyta erfaren kunskap och idéer?

Skulle konstnären eller forskaren med historisk inriktning ha hjälp av 3D-modeller av rekonstruerade teatrar och uppsättningar? Riskerar vi att tro att vi har fångat en verklighet när vi kan levandegöra den och därför inte tar den för en kvalificerad gissning?

Det EU finansierade projektet Theatron arbetar med att skapa 3D modeller av historiska teaterscener, alltifrån antiken till Drottningsholmsteatern och nya scener. Ur professor Beachams beskrivning av presentationen:

We will give examples of our work and work-in-progress. This will include our extensive work on the Theatre of Pompey in Rome; examples of our "Ancient Theatre and its legacy" work on the theatres of Greece, Rome, and the Renaissance, and of course, material from the Theatron EC project, showing how we present in this content for teaching and learning, relating to theatre history in Europe. This will include a presentation of our work in progress on the Drottningholm theatre on which we are currently working.

We will also discuss some of the theoretical and aesthetic aspects of working in Virtual Reality, as a medium for scholarship and research.

We will demontrate the nature of our work in computer modelling, the research and the preparation of materials used in the creation of 3D models including interactive VRML-models which can be navigated in "real time". We will show how the Theatron EC module is contructed, and the type of functionalities which it has, and the manner in which these are effective educational tools. The several examples of user interfaces that we have developed will also be presented. We will demonstrate a good many examples of our work, both on computer, and from the web.
